Linda Hughes, a native of Boston, MA came to South Florida in 1997 for additional training at the Baptist Cardiovascular Institute in Miami, FL. In 1998 she was hired to develop the Interventional Radiology (IR) Department at Holy Cross Hospital in Fort Lauderdale. There she spent 6 years successfully developing the program prior to being recruited by Memorial Healthcare System in Hollywood, FL. During her two year tenure she was instrumental in furthering their vascular and Interventional Radiology program including the opening of the interventional lab at Memorial Miramar Hospital.
In Sept 2006, she accepted the position as Chief of Diagnostic and Interventional Radiology at North Ridge Medical Center where she practiced for the next two years. There she continued to develop the interventional and vascular services including educating physicians and patients on the new minimally invasive innovative technologies interventional radiology has to offer.
In June of 2008, Dr Hughes joined NBR to help develop the vascular and IR program at Imperial Point Medical Center for Broward Health. She brings a wealth of knowledge and experience with regard the most cutting edge technologies. She has expertise in a number of areas including, uterine fibroid embolization (UFE), endovascular repair of thoracic and abdominal aortic aneurysms, angioplasty, stent placement, and thrombolysis for peripheral vascular disease, hemodialysis access management, TIPSS (transjugular intrahepatic portosystemic shunt ), endovenous vein laser treatment, vertebroplasty and a number of interventional oncology procedures such as biopsy, port placement, chemoembolization and radiofrequency ablation.
Dr. Hughes has coauthored a number of publications in cardiovascular and interventional radiology including a text book chapter on UFE. She is a member of a number of local and national societies including the Fort Lauderdale Surgical Society and is a past president of the South Florida Vascular and Interventional Radiology Society.
