Speaker Biography

Joseph Fernandez
Joseph A. Fernández, CFP® Managing Director, Florida

Joe Fernández is the managing director for BNY Mellon Wealth Management in its Florida region.  In this role, he oversees client service, new business development and marketing activities on Florida’s east coast.

Joe has 22 years of investment and finance experience, including 12 years at BNY Mellon. Prior to his current role, Mr. Fernández was a senior director of portfolio management and team leader in the Miami office of BNY Mellon Wealth Management.  In this role he provided direct leadership for the region’s portfolio management efforts. Before that, Joe was a director of strategic planning for BNY Mellon Wealth Management. Prior to his tenure at BNY Mellon, Joe held several management positions for wealth management firms and international private banking organizations.

In addition, Joe is a vice president and member of the investment committee for Mellon Hedge Advisors, LLC. He is a member of BNY Mellon’s International Wealth Management Strategy Committee. Joe was a member of the inaugural class of The Partnership’s Next Generation Executive program at Harvard Business School.

Joe received his bachelor’s degree, cum laude, from Barry University and certificate in Personal Financial Planning from Florida State University.  He is a CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNERTM professional.  He is a former member of the board of directors and executive committee of the Miami Lighthouse for the Blind.  Joe is a founding member of BNY Mellon’s Global Diversity Council and is a member of the Association of Latino Professionals in Finance and Accounting.
